Library notifications

The Library sends several types of notifications, for example:

  • recall notifications, to let you know that items you have on loan are required by another borrower and therefore now have to be returned by an earlier date.
  • courtesy notifications to remind you that items are due for return soon (not sent for High Demand items).
  • hold notifications to advise you that items you have requested are being held for you to collect.
  • notifications about long overdue accounts and sanctions.

All Curtin students receive their notifications through the Official Communications Channel (OCC) of OASIS and/or their student email. It is a condition of enrolment that Official Communications are checked at least once a week and your contact details are kept up-to-date.

Curtin staff and other Library borrowers will receive their notices via email.

Notifications via SMS or Twitter

Our Library notification service allows us to keep you informed about your borrowing via Twitter or SMS. We can keep you informed about requested items that are available for pick up, or items that are due to be returned. Unfortunately, we are unable to notify you of overdue items or fine notices using either of these methods.

You will continue to receive official advice on all aspects of your borrowing via the Official Communication Channel for Curtin students or email for Curtin staff and other registered borrowers.

How do I subscribe to the notification service?

You can subscribe to this service via Borrower Information in the Library Catalogue.

Click on Borrower Information in the Library Catalogue and select Mobile Notices. Select Twitter and enter your Twitter username and click the Follow @curtinlibrary button. To register for SMS notifications select SMS and enter your mobile phone number. Click Register.

It is essential for you to Follow @curtinlibrary on Twitter to allow us to send you Direct Messages. This will keep the notice private and allow us to send you the message as per Twitter protocols.

How do I unsubscribe?

You can unsubscribe from notifications via Borrower Information in Mobile Notices.

What should I do if I change my details?

If you change your Twitter username or your phone number you can update it via Borrower Information. Click on Mobile Notices and you will be able to re-enter your new information. The next notice you receive will then be sent to your updated Twitter username or phone number.
