Law Faculty Librarian
BA (Fine Art), GradDip (InfoLibStds), ALLA
I have worked at Curtin University Library since 1997 in various rewarding roles and in late 2015 I was appointed to the position of Faculty Librarian – Law. In this role I have special responsibility for the Law School. I also provide assistance to other Schools at Curtin Business School as required. I bring to this role my extensive experience and knowledge working at Curtin University Library.
Background and special interests
I am a member of the Australian Law Librarians’ Association (ALLA) and was a committee member of the WA division from 2014 to 2016. In 2014 I completed the Queensland University of Technology Law Librarianship: Legal Research course, and represented Curtin University Library at the 2014 ALLA Conference in Adelaide and the 2016 ALLA Conference in Melbourne. As part of my professional development I carried out some work experience in the Herbert Smith Freehills library in Perth. This allowed me an insight into the environment law students experience when they enter their profession.
My involvement in the development of the new Law School from its foundation has been a highly valuable experience and I am now privileged to lead the specialisation in law within the Library Business Team. Being a current member of ALLA and a past committee member, has enabled me to build solid networks within the legal profession and with my peers, both in Western Australia and around Australia. I continuously strive to gain insights into current developments and issues in law librarianship, which enable me to keep abreast of real industry trends.
