Are your students limiting their searching to Google?
If you feel that your students are having difficulty finding the range of information sources required for assignments, the library can help develop their information skills.
Take a look at our brochure which gives details of the resources available to improve students' skills at accessing, evaluating and synthesising information. You can link to these online training resources from BlackBoard or WebCT.
The Librarians in the Library's Research and Learning Services unit are happy to work with academic staff to ensure that information literacy outcomes are embedded into courses and units.

If you are coordinating a unit with large numbers which has a major assignment, the Library can provide an online unit guide of recommended resources, including online material.
Some examples are:
Free sign-up database, internet and EndNote workshops are available during semester for all students and staff. You can view the timetable and book online on the Workshops page.
Research and Learning Services librarians are available for appointments with postgraduate coursework students or later year undergraduates who are undertaking a major project. A subject librarian will help to construct a search strategy and identify relevant databases and other resources for the topic.
Students can contact the Enquiries Desk on 9266 2145 or email us with details of the topic if they wish to make an appointment.

There are a number of online guides available to assist students and staff in using Library resources.
If you are using WebCT or Blackboard, you can provide a link to these resources and promote them to your students.
