Generally, Off Campus students are allowed 20 items for the period of the current semester. However borrowers must always check the due date of an item as some items will only be available for a short loan period and study period dates may vary for different types of students. You are advised of due dates when an item is sent to you. You can also check your borrower information on the Curtin University Library Catalogue, which will list your loans, due dates and allow you to renew items where possible. Your Curtin ID and OASIS password are required to access your Borrower Information on the library catalogue.
All items are subject to recall. If an item is recalled by another borrower, an electronic recall notice will be sent to you via the OCC. You must check the Official Communication Channel (OCC) on your OASIS record on a weekly basis. The recall notice that the library sends will advise you that the item you have borrowed needs to be returned early. Fines apply for the late return of items.
If you live in an area where you do not receive a daily mail delivery to your home, you can apply for special privileges such as extra time to return your borrowed material. Please contact us if you think you are eligible for special privileges.

Loans are delivered to students by courier. Couriered items need to be signed for to acknowledge that they have been received. They will be sent to the address that we have for you on our library system. This is the preferred contact address that you nominated when you enrolled.
If you wish to change the address where your items are delivered (e.g. to your work address), you will need to change your preferred contact address on OASIS.
The library is unable to change your preferred contact address on your behalf.
Items must be returned in padded postage bags. Ordinary envelopes do not provide sufficient protection for material being returned by mail.
Off Campus students who live within Australia are supplied with return postage paid stickers. This return postage sticker must only be used to return items that have been loaned to you as an off campus loan. Items sent to a Curtin department or school must be returned directly to those departments at the sender's own cost.
Off Campus students who reside outside of Australia must pay the return postage and insurance costs on all items borrowed.
Short course students must pay the return postage costs on all items borrowed.
Please allow time for postage when returning items to ensure they are received by the due date. It may be worth renewing items before posting to ensure they do not become overdue.
A number of Australian university libraries provide borrowing privileges to Curtin enrolled students living outside Western Australia. Please check first with your local university library as to whether they are part of the reciprocal interstate borrowing agreement, and whether they charge a membership fee. To register as a reciprocal borrower, you will need:
More information is available at the CAUL website.
The interstate reciprocal borrowing scheme is restricted to students living in Australia.Open Universities Australia students are not eligible for reciprocal borrowing.
