Yes, a networked colour printer is available on Level 3 and a stand-alone colour printer is located on Level 2. When using the networked colour printer you will need to select the colour printer from the drop-down menu in the Print options and read the printing prompts.

Is there a scanner in the library?

Yes, there are 5 self-serve scanners available in the Lounge on level 2 of the Library.
Self-serve scanners are also available in the Abacus Labs (Buildings 303, 408 and 501).

Is there a CD-writer available in the library?

No.

Can I use my USB in the library computers?

Yes, USB devices can be used in the library computers (except for the catalogue-only terminals). However, the devices can only be connected by using the port at the front of the computer. Not all library computers will accept all types of USBs so please try another computer if this occurs. Some USBs have a short connector so you may wish to use a USB cable.

Are Apple Macintosh computers available in the library?

No, but you can use them in some School Labs.

Where can I send a fax?

From The Spot, in the Guild courtyard, next to Centrelink.

Can I access the Internet in the library?

Yes, the Internet is available from all workstations (except the catalogue-only terminals) on all floors. These computers are for academic use only as per Curtin University’s ICT policy.

Can I use email in the library?

Yes, from any computer workstation (except the catalogue-only terminals). All computers are for academic use as per Curtin University’s ICT policy. Express computers are available on Levels 2 and 3 and we suggest you use these terminals if you want to quickly check your email.

Can I use my laptop in the library?

Yes.

Can I plug my laptop in to use the Internet in the library?

Yes, you can. Students will need to use their Oasis username and password to connect to the Curtin network and staff should use their Novell login. If your laptop has a compatible on-board wireless card, you can configure it to access the network. More information can be gained from the Wireless Network webpage.
Room 4.29 on Level 4 has been set up for students who want to use the Curtin electronic network on their laptops and take advantage of the available power points. In this room, students are able to access the electronic network by plugging a blue Ethernet cable into the Ethernet slot in their laptops. Power points may also be used to charge PDAs and other electronic devices.

Can I print from my laptop in the library?

Yes, just follow the instructions below:

Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows 2000 compatible

  1. Download the printer installation package to your laptop
Once downloaded, double click the downloaded file and choose "install"
