It's a busy world! If you are a registered Curtin Distance Education student and do not live near a Curtin library, have a disability or find it hard to visit the Curtin Library, even if you have classes on campus, there are some services to make finding and obtaining information easier for you.
Can I search the library catalogue from home?
Can I search the journal databases from home?
Is there a library service that will search for references for me?
Can I have books and journal articles sent to me?
Who can I phone, email or fax for help?
Yes, if you have Internet access and a web browser at home, you can reach the Curtin Library home page.
Click on Library Catalogue to check the location and loan status of the textbooks (including online e-books), journals, theses and DVDs we have. You can also search the Reserve Collection of recommended readings for your unit. Many Reserve items are online for you.
You can see if books are on loan or available and recall or request books from our branches, check whether a journal is online and through Borrower Information find out the date your books are due back - all from home. (See Treks 4 and 5 for the basics of catalogue searching).

Try the New Library Catalogue (in development - let us know what you think).
Yes, again, if you have an Internet connection with a web browser, you can go to the Curtin Library home page and click on the Databases A-Z list or our Subject Guides.
You must be a currently enrolled Curtin student or staff member to access the databases. You will need your Curtin student ID number and your OASIS password. If you are a student who doesn't have access to OASIS, you will have a Library ID number and PIN.
If you are studying remotely, choose the databases that give the full text of journal articles online. You will see this information in the Subject Guides. You can teach yourself how to search databases with tutorials listed under our Online Tutorials link.
Note: If you are looking for a particular article online, search the Library Catalogue's Journals option or Article Find-it. If the journal is online, you can link to it from there.

If you are a Curtin student and do not live near any Curtin Library or have a disability, you can register with the Off-Campus Library Service, establish a Document Delivery Account and have books, videos and journal articles sent to you. They will also borrow items from other libraries for you.
Postgraduate students living within the Perth metropolitan area may use our Document Delivery Service which will obtain books and photocopies of journal articles from other libraries. There is a fee for this and you should allow enough time for the item to be requested and received. See the link below for more information
