How do I save styles into the EndNote software on my computer?

Save styles into the Styles folder in EndNote (e.g. C:\Program Files\EndNote X1\Styles).

Other EndNote styles may be downloaded from the EndNote Output Styles website.

MAC users need to use Firefox (NOT Safari or Netscape) when downloading Curtin styles. A menu will pop up, choose Save Linked File to "Downloads" and save it in the Styles folder. For Mac OS X this is usually located in - Harddrive:Applications:EndNote:Styles.

Vancouver Referencing Style users: According to the Vancouver Referencing Guide, the journal titles need to be abbreviated in the reference list.

Using journal term lists for journal abbreviations

The journal term list is a special list that allows you to include not only the name of a journal, but up to three different abbreviations as well. Bibliographic styles can be set to use any of the abbreviations in place of the full journal name.

EndNote includes 3 files of journal names and abbreviations appropriate for medical (Index Medicus format), chemical (CAS format) and humanities journals. The files are located in the Term Lists folder in the EndNote program folder.

To abbreviate the journal titles, complete the following:

When you preview your references in EndNote, the journal title should now be abbreviated to match the Vancouver guide.
