It's a busy world! If you are a registered Curtin Distance Education student and do not live near a Curtin library, have a disability or find it hard to visit the Curtin Library, even if you have classes on campus, there are some services to make finding and obtaining information easier for you.
Can I search library catalogues from home?
Can I search the electronic databases from home?
Is there a library service that will search for references for me?
Can I have books and journal articles sent to me?
Who can I phone, email or fax for help?
Yes, if you have Internet access and a web browser, you can reach the Curtin Library home page. Click on Catalogue or Catalogue Tools. You can then search the Curtin Library catalogue and the Reserve Collection (of recommended readings).
You can check if books are on loan or available, recall or request books, check the details of journal holdings and check your Borrower Information. (See Treks 4 and 5 for the basics of catalogue searching).
From the Catalogue Tools page you can also link to other WA library catalogues, other library catalogues in Australia and even overseas.

Yes, again, if you have an Internet connection with a Web browser, all you need to do is to go to the Curtin Library home page and click on Find Information, then Find Journal Articles, then Databases A-Z list, Gecko or Subject Guides.
You must be a currently enrolled Curtin student or staff member to access the databases. You will need your Curtin student ID number and your Oasis password. If you are a student who doesn't have access to Oasis, you will have a Library ID number and PIN.
Especially useful are the databases that give the full text of journal articles online. Look for this special menu option in Gecko or information in the Subject Guides. You can teach yourself how to search them with tutorials listed under our Online Tutorials link.

If you are a Curtin student and do not live near any Curtin Library or have a disability, you can register with the Off Campus Library Service, establish a Document Delivery Account and have books, videos and journal articles sent to you. They will also borrow items from other libraries for you.
Postgraduate students living within the Perth metropolitan area may use our Document Delivery Service which will obtain books and photocopies of journal articles from other libraries. There is a fee for this and you should allow enough time for the item to be requested and received. See the link below for more information
