Question 1.  Which publications would be more relevant for the following topic?

"Discuss the implications for businesses of electronic banking."

A.  A book:- Computers and Banking, published in 1980.
B.  A book:- Electronic Finance: a new approach to financial sector development, published in 2002.
C.  'Customers may be liable for online fraud in UK banks,' 2006, Secured Lender, vol.62, no.5, p.98.

B. is also correct. Although the book is not as recent, it will have much more information than the journal article. A. is a book that is published in 1980 is definitely too old to be useful for this technical topic.

Question 2. Which of the following sources would you not use for this topic:

"What is the current professional evidence on the relationship between diet and cancer risk?"

A.  Ed Pastore's web page-: Dead Animal Flesh and Food!, dated 1998-1999.
B.  A book:- Fundamentals of Cancer Prevention, New York, Springer, 2005.
C.  'Penciling in a possible diet/cancer connection', Tufts University Health & Nutrition Letter, vol 23, no.6, 2005, pp.1-2

A. is correct. The title of this personal web page looks very emotive (do you think he is a vegetarian?). It would be better to read the more recent book or the academic journal article that discuss evidence that has been gathered.

A.  Johnson, J. 1996, Bullies and Gangs, London, Franklin Watts.
B.  A video:- Violence on the Screen, Sydney, Video Education Australasia, 1998.

B. and C. are both published in Australia and are more recent than A. However, you should note that C. is published by an organisation that is definitely against gun ownership.
