Research students who enrolled in their higher degree on or after January 2005 are required by the University to submit the final version of their thesis in digital format to the Library, in addition to the required number of hard copies. A digital copy of the thesis will be deposited with the Australasian Digital Theses Program (ADT).

To deposit the digital version of your thesis into ADT:

  1. Read the Guidelines for the Submission of Digital Theses of Higher Degree by Research Students.

  2. Read the Copyright Information and check that your thesis complies with copyright.

  3. Complete the Verification Form for the Submission of Digital Theses, including the required signatures. A permanent embargo may also be requested by completing the Permanent Embargo Application Form.

  4. Send a digital copy of your thesis to the ADT Coordinator: ADT@curtin.edu.au or (08) 9266 4022. The copy you send should be the final version you produce once your examination is completed, including any necessary amendments.

Including your Curtin research thesis in the ADT database is voluntary for students who were enrolled in their higher degree prior to 2005. If you wish to deposit your thesis in the Australasian Digital Theses Program:

Copyright Issues

Once added to the ADT database your thesis will be available online to researchers around the world. For this reason you need to consider any copyright issues relating to the material you have used within your thesis. You need to ask yourself "do I own the copyright of the material in my thesis?"

Check the Copyright Information and contact the ADT Coordinator if you have concerns on this issue.

Publication Issues

If you are intending to publish information from your thesis you need to consider the attitude of publishers towards the ADT Program. Overall most publishers do not regard the inclusion of a thesis in the ADT database as a deterrent to publication. It is advisable to check the policies of publishers if you are in any doubt.

Contact the ADT Coordinator if you have concerns on this issue.
