Is it compulsory for me to submit my thesis electronically?

It is compulsory for students at Curtin University to submit their thesis electronically if enrolment in a higher degree by research commenced on or after January 2005. For students enrolled prior to that date it is not compulsory, however the Office of Research and Development and the Library encourage you to submit your thesis electronically.

How do I check whether there are any copyright issues related to my thesis?

Once added to the ADT database your thesis will be available online to researchers around the world. For this reason you need to consider any copyright issues relating to the material you have used within your thesis. You need to ask yourself "do I own the copyright of the material in my thesis?"
Check the Copyright Information and contact the ADT Coordinator if you have concerns on this issue.

Will I be able to publish the results of my thesis commercially if I submit my thesis to the ADT program?

If you are intending to publish information from your thesis you need to consider the attitude of publishers towards the ADT Program. Overall most publishers do not regard the inclusion of a thesis in the ADT database as a deterrent to publication. It is advisable to check the policies of publishers if you are in any doubt.

It is recommended that students contact individual publishers direct to answer this query before submitting, as publishers may respond in different ways.
