TL Robertson Library study spaces
Considerate use of the Library
The Library is a collaborative and thriving space for students, with many different areas to suit different study styles and preferences.
Signage around the Library indicates whether spaces are suitable for collaborative or individual study, and whether you can eat and drink in those spaces.
Food and drink
Some parts of the Library are spaces where students are permitted to eat and drink. Other spaces have food and drink restrictions so that the Library remains clean and pleasant for all students to use.
Please ensure that all rubbish is placed in bins provided. Wet wipes are available on all floors. Large spills or messes should be reported to Library staff immediately.
Collaborative study, silent study and sound levels
The Library provides study spaces that accommodate student preferences and needs to study together, complete group work or study by yourself without distraction.
Collaborative spaces, including our bookable study rooms, are ideal for group work and quiet collaboration in groups of 2, 3 or 4. When working in groups, we ask that you respect all Library users around you, and keep your collaboration to a conversational level.
Our silent rooms are for those who prefer to concentrate without any distraction. We don’t permit talking or most food and drinks in these rooms.
Mobile phones should be set to silent or vibrate in all areas of the Library.
Making your space safe and pleasant
Keeping the Library a great place to study is everyone’s responsibility.
If you notice someone behaving inappropriately you may respectfully tell them they are disrupting you. Library users are encouraged to contact Library staff if they are concerned by any inappropriate behaviour, food or noise. We will intervene if we observe inappropriate food, drink, noise or behaviour.
You can contact staff as they patrol the floors, by using the help phones by the lifts or contacting us online.
Library users can be fined, notified by official reprimand or removed from the building for non-compliance to a Library staff member request.
