For those who like to study in silence there are designated silent areas on levels four, five and six where no talking is allowed. On levels five and six there is also a Silent Computer Room where you can use a Library computer or your laptop but no talking is permitted.
All other study areas in the Library are quiet areas where noise must be kept to a minimum. Talking is allowed but it must not disturb others. Clients may considerately consume food that is not noisy, odorous, messy or otherwise disruptive in these areas. Our aim is to provide a non-disruptive environment conducive to study.
Silent and quiet areas are marked on floor plans that are available online or pick up a copy in the Library.
On level six there are several small study rooms set up for private individual study.
Rooms 651 to 661 on level six must be booked. Please see Library room bookings for available dates and times. All the rooms have power points and wireless coverage.
The Library is home to plenty of study carrels equipped with power points which provide the perfect place for solo study.
We recently replaced some of our older carrels with larger ones and we have also provided some new chairs. There is wireless coverage on all floors of the Library for you to connect your laptop and mobile devices to.
Our booth seating is designed for students who prefer a more relaxed study environment.
Each booth is fitted with several power points so your laptops and other devices will never run out of charge. You will find booth seating on levels two, three and four.
Room 588 on level five of the TL Robertson Library is open to all postgraduate and VC’s List students as well as sessional staff.
The room provides ergonomic seating at 12 work stations with power and computers, and a further 12 study carrels with power only.
The room has 10 PCs and 2 iMacs.
This room is a Silent Zone for individual study only. There is no talking and no food allowed. Covered drinks are permissible.
Access to the room is by swipe card only. If you are a postgraduate student, a VC’s List student or a member of sessional staff looking for a silent space to study in the Library, simply use your Curtin ID card to access the room.
