Document delivery

The Curtin University Library collection may not hold all the resources you require for your study and research. If you need a book, a copy of a book chapter, a journal article, conference paper or thesis that we don’t have, we may be able to obtain it for you from another library via our document delivery service.

The Library’s preference is to supply material electronically, however, this is sometimes not possible for licensing and copyright reasons. There may be occasions when we are only able to provide a hard copy which you will need to pick up from the Library.

We endeavour to fulfil all document delivery requests as quickly as possible. Many requests are completed in a few days, but depending on the material sought the process may take up to two weeks, or occasionally even longer. Please feel free to contact us via email or phone to check on the progress of your request.

COVID19 conditions are impacting response times and the ability of other Australian and international libraries to supply material. We are requesting physical books and scans from other hardcopy sources but as supply cannot be guaranteed you will be kept informed as to the progress of your request.

Where relevant, ebooks may be purchased for the Library’s collection instead but we are not able to purchase individual journal articles from publishers.

You may be able to borrow desired items in person at other Western Australian university libraries through the WA Reciprocal Borrowing Scheme. Please investigate this option before placing a document delivery request. Alternatively, you may recommend we purchase an item.

Staff and students based at Curtin’s Dubai, Malaysia, Mauritius and Singapore campuses or at Curtin partner organisations should contact their on-site library for assistance.
