Borrowing Reserve Collection and 3-day loan items

Student borrowing books

The Reserve Collection consists of e-Reserve (Electronic Reserve) and a print collection. It provides Curtin students with materials selected by lecturers as required reading for courses.

Only registered students and staff from Curtin University, UWA, ECU, Murdoch University and the University of Notre Dame can borrow from the Reserve Collection.

e-Reserve

The library's e-Reserve provides you with electronic copies of many course readings set by your lecturer. Please note not all materials will be available electronically.

You can access these through the library catalogue and they can be copied, downloaded or printed for study purposes.

Reserve Print Collection

How do I borrow?

You can use the Reserve print resources in the Reserve section. If you wish to use them anywhere outside the Reserve Collection, including the rest of the library, you will need to borrow the item(s).

You can borrow a maximum of two items for up to two hours at a time. Please note there are larger fines applicable for overdue Reserve items.

Always check your receipt which will tell you by when you need to return your items.

Overnight Borrowing

You can borrow Reserve items overnight. Overnight loans begin two hours before closing time and must be returned within 30 minutes of opening time the next day.

Booking Reserve Collection Items

You cannot book Reserve items held at Robertson Library. However, you can book Reserve Collection items at Muresk and Kalgoorlie libraries by contacting these libraries.

Items must be used in person at the site where the item is held.

3-day loans

3-day loan items are popular course material texts that are only available for short 3-day loans to ensure as many students as possible have access to them.

These items are shelved in the main collection on levels 4, 5 and 6. They are identifiable by the label saying "3 Day Loan" on the spine of the book.

Only registered students and staff from Curtin University, UWA, ECU, Murdoch University and the University of Notre Dame can borrow 3-day loan items.

There are fines for returning 3-day loan items late.
