Borrowing in person from another WA university library
UWA, ECU and Murdoch universities
Curtin students and staff are entitled to borrow in person from the libraries of the University of Western Australia, Murdoch University, and Edith Cowan University, through the WA Reciprocal Borrowing Scheme.
You need to register online before travelling to the libraries from which you wish to borrow so that your record is available on their system. You will need to show the other library your Curtin ID card and provide them with your Curtin email address when you first borrow items.
You will need to return borrowed items to the library from which you borrowed them – you cannot return them at Curtin Library.
Registration and borrowing are free of charge. Membership is personal and not transferrable.
Your borrowing privileges will expire on 28 February of the following year. Registration may be renewed each year. Proof of continued enrolment or employment is required to renew your registration each year.
Remember that while using another university's library, you are bound by their rules and regulations.
Penalties and fines for late return of material are at the discretion of the lending library. Failure to comply with rules and practices of a host library may also result in sanctions at Curtin Library.
If an item is not returned, Curtin Library will eventually be billed for the replacement cost of the item plus an administration cost. Once this has happened you will be required to reimburse to Curtin Library any amounts paid on your behalf.
Information for Curtin students studying at the Oral Health Centre of
Western Australia (OHCWA)
The UWA Medical and Dental Library has a strong collection of dentistry resources. In addition, the Curtin University Library has placed a small collection of high demand items in the Reserve Collection at the UWA Medical and Dental Library.
Curtin students studying at OHCWA need to register with the UWA Library as reciprocal borrowers. OHCWA Curtin students will have the normal reciprocal borrowing rights plus they will be able to borrow from the Reserve Collection in the UWA Medical and Dental Library.
To register as a reciprocal borrower you should:
· take your Curtin student card (and proof of current enrolment) to the Inquiry Desk at the UWA Medical and Dental Library;
· tell the staff member at the Inquiry Desk that you are studying at OHCWA.
You can contact the Faculty Librarian, Health Sciences if you wish to suggest that an item be placed in the UWA Reserve Collection for Curtin students.
